Why did you start racing? I started racing because after years of mechanicing, it seemed the logical thing to do.
How long have you been racing? I started going racing in the seventies, and mechaniced for Stuart Smith Snr (391/1). When he retired I got my budget together and started racing Formula 1 in 1988.
Why did you choose 133? I chose 133 as Number 1 was Stuart Smith Snr, and 33
was my good Friend and one of my racing hero's Peter Falding.
Have you raced under any other number: No only 133, Ex Stuart Smith Mechanic Chris Green once telephoned me acting as someone from Bradford Stadium, saying my number had to be changed to 13 as 133 was already being used, luckily i checked the date and it was Friday 1st April!!! So i didn't turn up as 13!!
How many cars have you raced? My car that is currently being prepared in my spare time will be my 4th
How many built by yourself: None!! Always someone's
cast offs!!!
Who is your biggest influence? Stuart Smith snr
Any other formula raced? F2 And very badly at that!! Even worse than I am at F1!!
First track raced at? Long Eaton in 1988 (A very wet one at that!!)
What is your favourite track? I think the track I like the most at the moment is Northampton, to race at and maybe Coventry to watch at.
Who is your favourite driver any formula? Stuart Smith (390) and Probably John Lund (53) and Peter Falding (33)
What is the most memorable moment of your racing career? Winning a whites and yellow top race at Scunthorpe.
What is the worst? Rolling over at Long Eaton in 1989
What other formula would you race given the chance? Not really sure?? Am a little to fat to race Grand Prix cars!
If you won the lottery and could sponsor a driver who would it be? Myself with a new car and transporter, then maybe Stuart Smith (390)
If you could have a head to head race against any driver past or present who would it be? I would have liked to have raced against Dave Mellor, with that Sexy car he used to have.
If you could race your car on any track in the World past or present which would it be? I would love to take a Formula 1 stock car around East Bay Raceway, in Tampa, Florida.
If you could re-open a old track which would
it be? Without any doubt it would be Scunthorpe, that was a man’s track.
Ambitions for the future? To still enjoy my racing when I get old!! and for
the sport to get bigger and better!!
Any other sport you follow? Football! A Manchester City fan, but love watching any form of motorsport.
